?Campylobacter colitis is usually self-limited but life-threatening toxic megacolon can occur.?Toxic megacolon is characterised by non-obstructive colonic dilatation, combined with evidence of systemic toxicity.?Early surgical consultation is recommended.?Indications for operation include perforation, uncontrolled bleeding, and worsening colonic dilatation and toxicity.?Despite treatment, toxic megacolon is associated with significant mortality.
