Sixty-two maintenance HD patients (34 male and 28 female; mean age, 52.6 years; mean duration of HD, 7.7 months) were enrolled in the present study. Twenty-nine age-matched subjects were used as a control. GDF11 was measured by a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit.
