lüll The phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate-binding FYVE finger Stenmark H; Aasland R; Driscoll PCFEBS Lett 2002[Feb]; 513 (1): 77-84The FYVE zinc finger domain is conserved from yeast (five proteins) to man (27 proteins). It functions in the membrane recruitment of cytosolic proteins by binding to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PI3P), which is found mainly on endosomes. Here we review recent work that sheds light on the targeting of FYVE finger proteins to PI3P-containing membranes, and how these proteins serve to regulate multiple cellular functions.|Amino Acid Sequence[MESH]|Animals[MESH]|Binding Sites[MESH]|Humans[MESH]|Models, Molecular[MESH]|Molecular Sequence Data[MESH]|Nematoda[MESH]|Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinases/chemistry/*metabolism[MESH]|Phosphatidylinositol Phosphates/*metabolism[MESH]|Protein Conformation[MESH]|Protein Kinases/chemistry/metabolism[MESH]|Protein Structure, Secondary[MESH]|Saccharomyces cerevisiae/metabolism[MESH]|Sequence Alignment[MESH]|Sequence Homology, Amino Acid[MESH] |
